The Darlings produce events, create projects and spark conversations between women working or wanting to work in TV, Film and Theatre.
The Darlings was founded by a group of creative women working in TV, Film and Theatre. Dissatisfied with the limited representation of women in their fields, plus the lack of community around their work they committed to building an offline community. They hope this community will impact the current creative landscape by generating more opportunities for women to Make It Work through conversation and collaboration.
The Darlings strongly believe in the power of community and "face-to-face encounters" as a source of creativity and inspiration. While we have a thriving digital platform generating and sharing content, which is local to all, we want to be rooted in a physical space for creative communities to meet, be inspired and get things made.
We believe that the key to creating an industry that is diverse and progressive is to make the arts more accessible and less elitist.
About
"Face-to-face encounters are essential to a city’s vitality, even among people who aren’t sure of each other’s names, for the exchange of ideas and to generate a sense of electricity." New Yorker Sep 2015
